This patient had Phase I treatment at age 9.  We used upper braces for 12 months to close her front spaces, and had four baby teeth removed by her dentist to unblock her permanent teeth.  We removed her braces and used a retainer to help guide her remaining permanent teeth. 

When she was ready for Phase II treatment at age 14, she had only minimal crowding, and treatment was considered optional.  The patient and her parent decided to proceed with Phase II treatment and full upper and lower braces for optimal aesthetics and stability.
